ABOUT
THERAPY
Working with families in private practice since 2003, Hello Jill Therapy caters to California adults, couples, and families that are ready to give themselves the gift of change and to say hello to happiness.
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 25 years of clinical experience, I have had the gift of supporting adults, couples, and families on both coasts as they find the courage to invest in themselves and in their relationships and write a story for themselves that makes them smile. Our well-being is deeply connected to the quality of our emotional connections with ourselves and others, and Hello Jill Therapy is here to help you to strengthen the most special connections in your life.
My extensive education and training allows me to utilize various therapeutic approaches with my clients. Hello Jill Therapy incorporates Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Structural-Strategic Therapy, and I cater my approach to each specific client, couple, and family. I am also proud to integrate Gottman Method Therapy as well as Brené Brown's research on courage, vulnerability, empathy, and shame in my work.
Conveniently offering online telehealth, as well as in-home and outdoor visits when appropriate, Hello Jill Therapy is ready to be a part of your journey.
hello happy.
hello healthy.
My journey to becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist began at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Child and Family Studies in 1996. I then continued my education at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, New Hampshire where I earned a Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 1998.
I have been working with families continuously since then in a number of different settings and became licensed as an MFT in California in 2003. I have been in private practice since then and have pursued some specialized training to support my work with my clients, as well.
My specialized training in Narrative Therapy at the Family Institute of Cambridge in Watertown, Massachusetts has supplemented my work with many clients within my practice. I have also become passionate about working with couples and have completed training Levels I, II, and III in Gottman Method Couples Therapy within the Gottman Institute and utilize the Gottman research, methods, and approach with the couples with whom I work.
I welcome and support my clients with extensive clinical experience, integrity, empathy, compassion, warmth, and sometimes even a little bit of humor. I truly believe (and the research agrees) that the most important factor when it comes to the effectiveness of therapy lies in the therapeutic connection and relationship between myself and my clients and my work is based on this belief. I am so lucky to love my work, adore my clients, and feel so honored to witness my clients' growth as they leave each session feeling heard and understood as they find the courage and vulnerability to create a life that they love. I look forward to creating a relationship with you that allows you to set therapeutic goals, do meaningful work, and create the changes in your life that you have been hoping for and imagined.
When I am not with clients or continuing my educational and clinical growth, I am often traveling, enjoying good food, and trying new restaurants, spending time outdoors, and enjoying my time with family, friends, my two teenagers that mean the world to me, and our very sweet (and sometimes needy) French Bulldog, Hugo.
